Frequently Asked Questions About Your Move

Straight answers to the questions New Jersey families ask us most — licensing, rates, packing materials, storage and service areas.

Can't find your question? Call the office at 732-892-1444 — a real person answers. Three generations of our family have been moving New Jersey since 1909, and about 80% of our work comes from repeat and referral clients who started with the same questions you have.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Classic Moving & Storage is a New Jersey Public Movers and Warehousemen licensee (#PC000523) and holds MC 488705 and US DOT 124915 authority with FMCSA certification for interstate moves. Every crew is fully insured, so your home and belongings are protected from the first box to the last.

How much does a move cost?

A three-person crew is $128.00 per hour and a four-person crew is $152.00 per hour, with travel time additional. Every home is different, so the surest way to budget is to request a free estimate and get a written quote based on your actual inventory.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia, with daily trips across North and South Jersey from our Toms River base. Full details are on our service areas page.

Do you provide boxes and packing materials?

Yes. We supply new boxes, wardrobe cartons and quilted moving pads for your move, and free used boxes are available in our office when we have them on hand. Your estimator will tell you exactly what your job needs.

Do you offer storage?

Yes — containerized self storage keeps your belongings in secure, sealed containers at our Toms River facility for as long as you need. Learn more on our storage page.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as you can — end-of-month and summer dates fill first. Our trucks run daily trips throughout New Jersey, so short-notice moves are often possible; request a free estimate and we'll confirm availability for your date.

What won't you move?

For safety, our crews cannot transport flammables or hazardous materials — including aerosols, paint thinner, gasoline and explosives. We also can't place food in storage, so plan to carry perishables with you.

Do you move offices?

Yes. Our commercial crews handle office and business relocations, including buildings with loading docks, side doors and ramps, and we schedule the work around your business hours. Details are on our commercial moving page.

Do I need to empty dresser drawers?

Yes, please do. Full drawers add weight that can strain furniture joints en route, so empty every drawer completely before moving day.

Do you have tips for packing dishes and glasses?

We do. Wrap each piece individually, cushion hollow spaces with crumpled paper and stand plates on edge in dish-pack cartons — our packing tips page walks through the full technique.
